Stained Glass Window Art Chicken
A variety of translucent and opaque glasses give this rooster his elegant pose. Iridescent black and white glasses lend a realistic sheen to his tail feathers. The body glass is formed from layers of colored glass swirled over a white glass base. From the back, his body is snowy white. Overlays of the red comb and brilliant orange neck feathers add dimension to the piece.

Framed Watercolor Chicken
"Eyeing the Competition"
Done in my classic style of painting; here is my rendition of one lone hen sizing up the fellas.
The setting is of an old porch stoop from a home place that is destined to fade away in the near future. There is a small bit of humor in many of my paintings as can also be seen is this one. The look on all the chickens' faces tells the story. Each one is eyeing one of the others; with the exception of the one rooster that is busy stating his claim. "Much like it is in the human world", I think.
The hen has her eye on a newcomer to the scene. Will he be friend or foe or possibly just more competition? Chickens are such funny creatures.
This painting is done in pure watercolor with a little touch of gouache added to the watercolors for the grass. It is done in a style that I developed from having taught myself to paint; it is defiantly a painting that cannot be mistaken as someone else's work. I say defiantly because I do not paint the way traditional watercolorist do. That is ok with me as it sets me apart from all the rest.
