Dr. Brian D. Fairchild is a Professor and Extension Poultry Specialist in the Department of Poultry Science at the University of Georgia (UGA). He holds B.S. degrees in Animal Science and Poultry Science, as well as M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Physiology, all from North Carolina State University. Dr. Fairchild’s research primarily focuses on broiler management, with particular emphasis on air quality, energy conservation, lighting programs, and water consumption and quality. In his extension role, he provides expertise on poultry house management and energy efficiency, working closely with industry professionals, producers, and students. He is also actively involved in youth education through 4-H and FFA poultry judging programs. In 2024, Dr. Fairchild served as President of the Poultry Science Association (PSA), where he played a key role in promoting research dissemination and professional networking within the poultry industry. His commitment to advancing poultry science through research, education, and outreach continues to enhance both bird health and industry efficiency.
