Jenna Boewe receives Zinpro Corporation's Undergraduate Poultry Science Scholarship Award
The Poultry Science Association (PSA) is proud to recognize Jenna Boewe of Purdue University as the 2025 recipient of Zinpro Corporation’s Undergraduate Poultry Science Scholarship Award.
This scholarship, generously sponsored by Zinpro Corporation, is designed to promote diversity within the poultry science field. It supports students from gender, racial, or ethnic groups historically underrepresented in the U.S. poultry industry.
Awarded to a rising junior or senior, the scholarship honors students who excel academically, demonstrate a commitment to service, and show a passion for advancing the role of poultry science in feeding a growing global population.
“At Zinpro, we’re committed to supporting the next generation of poultry science leaders, including those from underrepresented backgrounds,” said LaToya J. Burrell, Legal Counsel at Zinpro. “Jenna’s passion, hard work, and leadership make her a standout, and we’re excited to help her continue making an impact in the industry.”
Jenna Boewe is a junior at Purdue University majoring in Animal Sciences with a concentration in Animal Behavior and Well-Being and a minor in Wildlife. She works as an undergraduate research assistant in Dr. Candace Croney’s lab, where she contributes to poultry welfare and behavior research. She’s also the current president of the Purdue Poultry Club, secretary of the Moravian Mid-States Regional Youth Council, and a rank leader in the Purdue “All-American” Marching Band.
Showcasing her commitment to the poultry industry, Boewe spent the summer of 2024 as a hatchery intern at Rose Acre Farms and completed intensive coursework through the Midwest Poultry Consortium Center of Excellence.
Her dedication to service is reflected in her past roles as a wildlife rehabilitator, 10-year 4-H member, and recipient of honors including the Stars and Stripes Award and the Daughters of the American Revolution Award.
“Diversity is not just a moral imperative; it is a practical necessity,” said Boewe. “The agricultural industry needs creativity, problem-solving abilities, and unique insights that only a diverse group of individuals can provide. As we work toward a more inclusive future, I am proud to play a role in shaping a field that values and celebrates contributions from all individuals.”
Boewe plans to continue her education at Purdue, pursuing a master’s degree in animal sciences with a focus on poultry behavior and welfare. While she’s still exploring her long-term path, she hopes to work in extension or in a role that involves visiting farms to conduct welfare audits, collaborating with producers, and troubleshooting challenges.
