Dr. Kenneth Koelkebeck honored with Poultry Science Association’s highest award

[Champaign, IL] — Dr. Kenneth Koelkebeck, Professor at the University of Illinois, has been named a Fellow the Poultry Science Association (PSA)—the highest professional honor bestowed by the organization. He was formally recognized during PSA’s annual awards ceremony earlier this month.

Koelkebeck was named a PSA Fellow in recognition of his record of professional distinction, groundbreaking contributions to poultry science, and dedicated service to PSA. First awarded in 1933, fewer than 250 PSA members have received this lifetime honor, making it one of the most prestigious recognitions in the poultry industry and scientific community.

A trusted expert in poultry production, environmental and waste management, nutrition, and biosecurity, Dr. Koelkebeck’s research has improved how poultry producers worldwide deliver high-quality eggs and meat to consumers. His work has impacted both small flock and large commercial operations, providing practical, science-based solutions to real-world challenges.

Dr. Koelkebeck’s achievements have earned him numerous honors, including the American Egg Board Research Award and the Phibro Extension Award. He has been an active PSA member for many years, sharing his expertise through research, teaching, and service.

“Dr. Koelkebeck’s work has made a tangible difference to poultry producers and to the science that supports them,” said Doug Korver, President of PSA. “His professional community—and the University of Illinois—can take great pride in this recognition.”
