Perdue Farms Executive Named PSA Fellow
Dr. Randolph Mitchell honored with Poultry Science Association’s highest award
[CHAMPAIGN, IL] — Dr. Randolph Mitchell, Vice President of Nutrition and Research at Perdue Foods, has been named a Fellow of the Poultry Science Association (PSA)—the organization’s highest professional honor. He was formally recognized during PSA’s annual awards ceremony earlier this month.
Mitchell was named a PSA Fellow in recognition of his record of professional distinction, groundbreaking contributions to poultry science, and dedicated service to PSA. First awarded in 1933, fewer than 250 PSA members have received this lifetime honor, marking it as one of the most prestigious achievements in the poultry industry and scientific community.
A Georgia native, Dr. Mitchell earned his bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees in Poultry Science from the University of Georgia, followed by an MBA from Salisbury University. Since joining Perdue in 1998, he has held numerous leadership roles, overseeing nutrition programs, research, feed mill quality control, and animal welfare initiatives.
Dr. Mitchell’s work has helped lead industry-wide changes, including pioneering antibiotic-free and all-vegetable feeding programs that have influenced poultry production standards across the country. He has also served on the PSA Board and Executive Committee, contributing his expertise to the broader poultry science community.
“Dr. Mitchell’s leadership has shaped not only Perdue’s operations but also the wider poultry industry,” said Doug Korver, President of PSA. “His colleagues in Salisbury and across the nation can take pride in this well-deserved recognition.”
