Q&A: Spotlight on the 2025 PSA Pacific Rim Scientific Conference
October 13–16, 2025 | The Londoner, Macau, China
A New Global Gathering for Poultry Scientists
This fall, the Poultry Science Association (PSA) will host its inaugural Pacific Rim Scientific
Conference in Macau, China—a new regional meeting designed to bring poultry scientists
together from across the Pacific Rim and beyond. We spoke with members of the PSA
organizing team to learn more about what attendees can expect.
Q: What makes the PSA Pacific Rim Scientific Conference different from
other poultry science meetings?
A: This conference is designed to serve as a scientific and cultural bridge, bringing together
researchers from across Asia, Oceania, and the broader Pacific Rim. While PSA’s annual
meeting in North America is well-known globally, this regional event offers a more targeted
platform for collaboration on local and regional challenges in poultry science. Attendees can
expect seven focused symposia covering high-impact research, plus opportunities to connect
with international colleagues in a smaller, more interactive setting.
Q: Who should attend?
A: The PSA Pacific Rim Scientific Conference welcomes all poultry scientists, educators,
students, and industry professionals with an interest in advancing poultry research in the region.
It's especially valuable for researchers based in or working with the Pacific Rim—offering a
forum to share science relevant to both local production systems and global poultry issues.
Q: What topics will be covered during the symposia?
A: Each of the seven symposia will explore timely and regionally relevant topics in poultry
science. While full session details will be announced soon, attendees can expect deep dives
into cutting-edge nutrition, health, genetics, production systems, and sustainability—all tailored
to the unique challenges and innovations emerging across the Pacific Rim.
Q: Will students be involved?
A: Absolutely. One of the standout features of this conference is its commitment to student
research engagement. For many students in the Pacific Rim, this is a rare chance to present
research at an international conference. All posters and presentations will be in English, offering
students a platform to gain global exposure and grow their academic networks.
Q: Who is organizing the event?
A: The conference is co-chaired by Yang Ning (China Agricultural University) and Tom Porter
(University of Maryland), supported by a diverse organizing committee representing eight
countries. This international team ensures that the program reflects the priorities and
opportunities across the entire Pacific Rim poultry science community.
Q: What is the venue like?
A: The conference will be held at The Londoner in Macau, a premier destination offering world-
class amenities and convenience. This setting supports both productive scientific exchange and
memorable cultural experiences.
A Global Stage for Regional Science
The 2025 PSA Pacific Rim Scientific Conference represents a new chapter in global poultry
science—connecting researchers across borders to tackle shared challenges with fresh
perspectives. From scientific exchange to student empowerment, this event aims to elevate the
voice of the Pacific Rim within the global poultry research community.
