CHAMPAIGN, IL, UNITED STATES, April 27, 2023 – The Poultry Science Association (PSA) has selected Camryn Wilder of Texas A&M University (pictured to the left) as the 2023 recipient of the Diamond V Endowed Undergraduate Poultry Science Scholarship.

This scholarship, sponsored by Diamond V, is based on academic achievement and service. It also gives applicants the opportunity to express their interest and knowledge of the role the poultry industry plays in feeding the world’s growing population.

“Camryn is a great example of the future of the poultry industry. Although she is just a sophomore, she has a clear vision of her goals and what it will take to achieve them. It was a joy to get to meet her, and we wish her the best in finishing her college career and look forward to working alongside her in the years to come,” said Judd Powell, Diamond V North America Poultry Specialist and PSA representative. “At Diamond V, we know that students like Camryn are who will keep this industry successful for many years to come. We are thankful to have the opportunity to provide funding for our poultry scientists of tomorrow.”

Camryn Wilder is a sophomore Poultry Science major at Texas A&M University. She hopes to one day pursue a career in poultry nutrition research. Camryn is active in the university’s Department of Poultry Science where she is a member of both the Poultry Science Club and the Aggie Poultry Ambassadors. She works as an Undergraduate Research Assistant in a lab that focuses on identifying ways to mitigate the effects of necrotic enteritis through nutrition. Having grown up in Houston, Camryn gained a wealth of knowledge to help students better understand the FFA contest and industry. She applies these skills from high school when she serves as a Poultry Judging Set-Up Assistant. During her time in the FFA, she discovered many opportunities through the poultry industry. After graduation, she intends to pursue her doctorate in Poultry Science with a focus in nutrition to improve the growing demand for sustainability in the world. Outside of her education, she spends her time in multiple Christian organizations where she mentors incoming freshmen and helps them find a community in College Station, Texas. She also loves the outdoors and hopes to one day visit all of America’s National Parks! Her passions for the poultry industry, people, and the outdoors are the key motivators for her future. She will use the Diamond V Endowed Undergraduate Poultry Science Scholarship to aid in accomplishing her dreams of working in the poultry industry.

“I am incredibly thankful for this opportunity through the Poultry Science Association and Diamond V! This award will not only help me in pursuit of my doctorate but will also create lasting and valuable industry connections with those who are equally passionate about feeding the world,” said Wilder.

The Poultry Science Association extends its congratulations for Camryn in being awarded this year’s scholarship. The Association’s scholarship cycle opens annually in October and students are encouraged to subscribe to PSA emails to receive the latest updates regarding available opportunities.
