Purpose of this Award & Background
The James H. Denton Distinguished Service Award specifically recognizes and focuses on a pattern of significant, continuous, dedicated contributions by an individual to the success, well-being and advancement of the Poultry Science Association and/or PSA Foundation. Recipients of the James H. Denton Distinguished Service Award are long-time Association members who have clearly and substantially given of themselves in the work of the Association and/or Foundation, having significantly furthered the purpose for which it was founded. This award should not be confused with recognition as a Poultry Science Association Fellow.
The James H. Denton Distinguished Service Award be funded through an endowment of the Foundation created specifically for this purpose.
Eligibility to Receive this Award
- Must be a PSA Member and have been a member in good standing for a consecutive 8 years or more.
- Cannot have previously received the award.
- Nominees must be living.
- Cannot be serving on the PSA Board of Directors or on the PSA Foundation Committee at the time of nomination. Former members of the Board of Directors and the PSA Foundation Committee are eligible to receive the award one year after the individual has left the respective position.
Nomination Criteria Required to Submit
- Official Nomination Letter
- Resume/CV
- Two (2) Letters of Support
- Summary Statement (300-500 words):
- Documenting the nominee’s major contributions to the Association and/or Foundation
- Nominators must be PSA members in order to submit an individual for consideration of this award. Nominators are not allowed to nominate more than one individual per year for this award.
